Students read or listened to, “The City of Ember” and completed some vocabulary exercises. We also had a look at the contents of the,“Metis Roadcase,” that is on loan from the National Music Center. Next week we will spend a great deal of time learning about the Metis and will continue with our novel study. Math: Last week students continued to work on their double bar graphs using Olympic data. They will wrap those up this coming week. Students also began a quadrilateral shape art representation which they will analyze for a number of different geometrical criteria this week. Science: This week students worked with their “City of Ember” job group and began preliminary plans for the devices they will build in the coming weeks. They have started a materials list which should include things readily available in the recycling bin at home or at school. We will provide the items necessary for the circuits. This coming week they will do some self evaluation work of their circuit check-in after carefully reading and taking into consideration the first round of teacher feedback.
