Please consider joining us for a day in the sun. Humanities: This week the class time focused on completing the novel study and the accompanying work. The students should be done their 8 book snaps and the ABC project should be close to completion. There will be work time on Monday to wrap this up. Coming up next week we will examine historical events that have shaped Canadian Identity. Math: Students completed an Equivalent Fractions assessment and their results have been shared on FreshGrade. Students who feel they were not meeting expectations will be provided with more practice and support this week, as well as an opportunity to re-do the assessment. We also explored pictorial and symbolic ways to compare and order fractions with different denominators. Encourage your child to demonstrate their preferred method, as we will be checking their understanding of this concept early this week. This coming week we will also discover different methods for converting fractions to decimals and vice versa. Science:This week we made rock candy, formed by the crystallization of large sugar crystals coming out of a supersaturated solution of sugar and water. Next week we will continue to observe our crystal growth and complete a conclusion to this lab. June Procedures: There are a few things to keep in mind for a successful closing to the grade 5 year.
