It was a busy week in grade 5. Highlights of the week included the Pow Pow we attended on Thursday and a trip to Heritage Park.

Students finished their “Fence-It” problem that examined the concepts of area and perimeter. As we explored this problem we talked about the importance of working systematically when we identify patterns and work towards developing conjectures. We will continue looking at patterns next week.
Students were introduced to the first topics in the Classroom Chemistry unit. They reviewed the states of matter and were introduced to mixtures and solutions. They are looking forward to experiments next week!
This week we wrapped up our look at indigenous stories and began looking at other historical groups and their stories. At Heritage Park we enjoyed a program that introduced us to the Famous 5. In language arts we continued writing stories that focus on dialogue.
