It was a busy week in grade 5. Highlights of the week included the Pow Pow we attended on Thursday and a trip to Heritage Park. Looking Forward April 25: Fort Calgary ALL DAY (both classes)* We still need several volunteers. Please email Gail and let her know if you are available. Fort Steele 5.3 May 9-12 5.4 May 12-15 (No School on May 16th) Please make sure you log onto family zone on the Connect Charter website to complete the informed consent form for Fort Steele. A digital copy of the trip booklet is included with this update. Math Students finished their “Fence-It” problem that examined the concepts of area and perimeter. As we explored this problem we talked about the importance of working systematically when we identify patterns and work towards developing conjectures. We will continue looking at patterns next week. Science Students were introduced to the first topics in the Classroom Chemistry unit. They reviewed the states of matter and were introduced to mixtures and solutions. They are looking forward to experiments next week! Humanities This week we wrapped up our look at indigenous stories and began looking at other historical groups and their stories. At Heritage Park we enjoyed a program that introduced us to the Famous 5. In language arts we continued writing stories that focus on dialogue.
